It would indeed be fascinating if the universe did have a purpose.   It would probably be pleasant for there to be life after death.  However there is not one scrap of evidence in favour of either speculation.   As it is easy to understand why people crave for cosmic purpose and life eternal, and there is no evidence of either, it seems an inescapable conclusion that neither exists.   All there is for science to explain, is the psychology of brains that maintain them as actualities
