Graduating as a visual communication student from the
University of Brighton in 1979, Zelda took up freelancing as a photojournalist. In 1981
she took over the Print Room at the Photographers' Gallery which she "turned
around" and made her own for eight years. In 1989 she opened The Zelda Cheatle
Gallery which continues to exhibit, sell prints, and promote both 19th century and
contemporary photographers. Zelda Cheatle Press publishes contemporary photographers'
monographs. Zelda lectures at the Royal College of Art and is a trustee of the Kobal
Foundation. She has regularly appeared on television, including The Late Show and Arena.
An 8 part series The Photography Show was screened by BBC2 in 1995.
Mike has developed a printing process (Permaprint tm), for
making archival prints direct from electronic thus completing the last task in getting
electronic imagery accepted as fine prints.

Zelda has said that "good photography is
anything that moves, motivates or makes me think!". This extended seminar will cover
approaches to getting work seen by the public, curators and buyers, as well as tracing the
development of the photograph as 'art object' Mike will talk on virtually all the
processes that are acceptable as fine prints and thus suitable for the gallery or
collector. An informal weekend for all looking for insights into what makes photography
tick, and getting their work up on the wall. |
