Workshop History
New ways of working with old
stereotypes, using Silver Gelatin Emulsions and finding personal and universal
standpoints while still making beautiful work - now there’s a challenge!
This workshop will cover an in-depth
introduction to working with Silver Gelatin Emulsion as well as a seminar on the
implications of producing work through this particular medium. Silver Gelatin
Emulsion allows for Black & White images to be printed onto a vast range of
different materials and surfaces from fabric to stone, from wood to ceramics and
exhibited in public spaces. This allows the photographer to manipulate the
physical nature of photography and to push aesthetic boundaries. The workshop
will start with a look at a number of photographers/artists whose work involves
the use of Silver Gelatin Emulsion Printing. Participants will have plenty of
time to experiment with a variety of materials and to produce some finished
pieces of work. Melanie will show and discuss her own work and of course that of
the participants. The workshop will end with a discussion and review of work
made during the session.

daring there is no beauty."
