, published in 1996 contains
image/narratives from the performance and exhibition: My Photographs Dont Stand
Up For Themselves! So I Have To Stand-up For Them. He has had a number of exhibitions
with his partner Dizzy Howard, including Trespassing On Private Rocks which toured
nationally. Greg teaches photography at De Montfort University in Leicester
Greg writes: "The realisation that snapshot simplicity, directness and beauty, can
never be recovered once an awareness of the photographic process has been developed, has
left me with no option but to pursue photography but stop taking photographs. A series of
photographic descriptions (Robb-Grilletesque but black, Rousselian, but true), plans and
discussions of photographs that will never be (should never be) realised form the basis of
my latest work." Recent work has included a slide show for the radio as part
of John Peel's Meltdown 98 Festival, live three hour broadcast. However, new, yet
unexplainable photographs still seem to surface
.:
Gregs workshop will centre on his unique understanding of
images and how they communicate meaning. By looking at, and making work, often initially
strange or comic, that promotes an understanding of what is entertaining or
surreal participants will be challenged to see if their own practice is honest
in its pursuit and execution, and while laughing, long and loud at ourselves
while doing it, find a way to take a greater risk at life.
