|
Born in 1949, Charlie went into the theatre at the age of sixteen as an assistant stage
manager and for the next eleven years worked as an actor, appearing in both television and
film. In 1977 he began photographing actors and theatrical productions. In 1981 he was
commissioned to do the pictures for The National Trust Book of Long Walks. This was
followed by a further 19 books on Landscape in the UK, France, Italy and Spain, including
his best selling book The Making of Landscape Photographs, about which The Independent
said ".... puts the soul back into the Literature of Landscape Photography". He
is frequently seen on British Television discussing the finer aspects of Landscape
Photography. He has worked with numerous authors including Jan Morris, John Julius Norwich
and A.N. Wilson. He has exhibited in the UK and Japan and his photographs have been bought
by collectors of fine photography from all over the world. He continues to work in
advertising, is in great demand as a lecturer and is currently planning a book on the
Landscape of Japan
